How much sleep is enough?

Posted by Kirk Moren on February 09, 1998 at 11:32:20:

- How can one determine how much sleep one needs in a fairly objective, empirical way?

- I've read that if one can determine how long it takes for someone to go into REM and how long REM lasts for them, that they can determine the optimal sleep time for that person. Is this true and if so how would somebody do this and how many REM sessions are required/day?

- I've also read that when someone reduces the amount of time they sleep/day, that it takes awhile for the body to adjust but once
this happens their fine. Is their an adjustment period?

- Can someone sleep too much and have similar symptoms of too little sleep?

- Is their a cure for sleep paralysis or ways to lessen it's occurrences?

Thanks in advance,
