Hi,

I had the UPPP and tonsilectomy done two and a half weeks ago.

I won't finally know how well the surgery has done for another few weeks until after it has completely healed, but so far, it looks to have done the trick.

My biggest problem will be the mental aspect of giving up the CPAP I have been dependent on for 5 years.

The surgery went well for me, I was eating a little solid food after about a week. It hurt, but there is only so much jello and ice cream one person can take . Most people aren't able to do this, and my doctor was really surprised I was able to. This wasn't much solid food, and it did take me a LONG time to eat it.

First, understand that I have an extrememly high thresh hold for pain, and don't expect these results to hold true for most.

I was out of work for 4 days (had the surgury on Tuesday). I took the pain medicine he gave me for 3 days, and went to just using Chloroseptic for about 4 more, then I didn't use anything.

The major part of the discomfort for me was gone after about 10-12 days, and since then, only minor discomfort. I was able to eat a regular meal after about 12 days

Even now there is a slight discomfort, but it is really minimal. Just enough so I don't forget that I had it done .

I have not experienced any of the side effects that I was told about. One thing is that my doctor doesn't like to cut into the muscle unless absolutely necessary, and I suspect that had a large part to play in my avoiding them.

One of the main things to to carefully check out your doctor and research the surgery. My doctor has performed over 1000 of these surgerys, and has just published one of the largest studies ever done on the UPPP surgers (350 consecutive patients).

Brian
