Posted by Don Jeske on February 15, 1998 at 23:04:30:I have two questions. First a short HX. 1997 DX with PLMD(treated effectively with Sinemet) and heavy snoring leading to me waking often. Also have only 15% nasal airflow per CT. I fall asleep driving etc. Insurance has denied all treatments except Sinimet, I am working on that now.
Question One: Anyone ever hear of using Benadryl for snoring disorders? While at PMD today for tonsilitis- he said (regarding surgery for snoring)that surgery was out and "Benadryl" was the new treatment for snoring disorders. He said "7/10 M.D.s not making money on the surgery would be against surgery" (oral-pharyngeal). I told him I did not understand how this would be effective and was given the standard "I wouldn't expect you to" answer, he did not answer it and my throat is to sore. I am an E.R. RN and reasonably versed on patho-physiology but don't follow this.Second question: Is surgery a good choice for snoring disorder without apnea?
