Don, I would ask your doctor for a sleep study
referal. Your doctor obviliously does not know what he is talking about. He should be asked if he has had any formal training in a sleep disorders lab.
It sounds like you may have sleep apnea. You definetly have the symptoms. A sleep study is diagnostic, therfore payable by insurance with a referal.Benadryl does absolutly nothing for snoring
You can ask your doctor where he got this information from. Your sleep disorders physician will let you know what treatment suits you best. If benadryl was a treatment for snoring or sleep apnea, us in the sleep disorders field would be looking for new jobs. Regarding surgery, only a ENT specialist can make that determination. I can tell you that the success rate is about 50%. A sleep study should be initiated because snoring alone does not disturb sleep. Something is causing you to arouse several times a night causing daytime somnolence. Good Luck!!
