Seasonal Insomnia

Posted by Bev on February 17, 1998 at 08:23:06:

For the last 12 years I have been suffering from what I call "Seasonal Insomnia". My doctor diagnosed me as having SAD even though I do not suffer from any other symptoms of SAD other than the fact that I cannot sleep during the months after the time change (in the east from Daylight Savings time to EST and vice versa) As soon as spring comes I sleep like a baby.

My doctor's advice was to use a phototherapy light for 20-30 minutes during the morning when I first wake up. The results have been amazing to me. After only 3 days of this treatment I was sleeping soundly. I've been using this light now for 10 days and I continue to sleep well. It's almost as though I've been given my life back.

I just wanted to tell anyone who thinks they might suffer from this problem that they should ask their doctor about this treatment. The best part is that you do not have to take any medication whatsoever.
