Posted by Amy Perry on February 18, 1998 at 07:21:20:My 36 month old daughter (3yrs) used to sleep through the night. Within the last 4-6 months she has been waking at least once every night crying or screaming. She settles down when we go to her, but this is exhausting for her and me. She often wakes exatly one hour after she has fallen asleep - and I am concerned about the possibility of REM transition/disturbance. Some nights she will awaken every 2 hours. We have tried everything - and my last resort is medical. Could she have a medical/physical/physiological problem that is causing her sleep to be disturbed. She does not snore, so I do not think she has apnea. She often wakes up drenched in sweat, regardless of temperature or clothing. She does not watch cartoons - is it possible that some one so young could have so many nightmares on a regular basis? Is there anything that can help her???
