Daytime hypersomnolence (excessive sleepiness as you described) is a sign of numerous sleep disorders, including sleep apnea and narcolepsy, among others. If you fall asleep at a red light, it could result in some serious consequences. You don't have to be an overweight male in his 40's (stereotype of sleep apnea) to have sleep disordered breathing. I would advise you to get to a doctor that understands sleep disorders (try a pulmonary specialist if there is no listing for sleep specialists). Good treatments are available.
