Your story is my story. Very, very similar. (Scroll down the forum to "Women Who Sleep Too Much".) I haven't had a chance to check it out with a doctor yet, since I've recently injured my knee - another story for another time. As you can see from the responses to my message, everyone's convinced it's apnea. It's such a relief to have a possible label and cure. I am 33 years old, have no children. In fact, whenever anybody asks if I'd like to have children, I always say, "I'm afraid I don't have the energy and that I'd sleep right through my baby's crying." Have you always been this way? I know I have. The idea that I could be stopping my breathing is so bizarre; I never considered it until all these people on this listserv said "Yep, you've got Sleep Apnea!" Please let me know what you find out. I wouldn't mind staying in touch - a support thing, you know. I've felt so alone, like such a freak for so long.
