Posted by Karin Leigh on February 24, 1998 at 16:20:30:How surprised I was yesterday, when a friend going through medical school called to say that she knew what my "wierd dreams" were. She had just learned about hypnagogic hallucinations. I am 30 years old and had never heard of anyone else having those kind of dreams. She also said that it was a symptom of narcolepsy. We both thought I wasn't suffering from that dissorder. So I searched the Web all evening, and didn't find a single instance of hallicinations without refference to narcolepsy. So, I began looking at narcolepsy a little more closely....
My first question is: is it possible to experience the hallucinations without narcolepsie? Secondly, could the following occurences, which happen in cycles, constitute other symptomes of narcolpsy: Constant fatigue, waking up nightly to go to the bathroom, waking up several times during the night, sometimes not being able to go back to sleep, waking up tired no matter how long I slept, not being able to focus no matter how hard I try(sort of like fighting not to daydream)? This is all very new to me.... 24 hours old! If anyone has any advice on how to get more information, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
