Posted by Jim Howen on February 26, 1998 at 12:23:40:I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, and a sleep study was advised.
Since I have no insurance, I need to find an affordable way to get the info
to my doctor. He says that I will certainly need a CPAP machine, but I keep
hearing about BiPAP, CPAP, DPAP etc, and some that think CPAP is a misspelling
of CRAP. My questions in order are:
1. Where can one get low-cost in-home or clinic sleep studies done?
2. Is there a source of used equipment available (or maybe we should START one)?
3. What basic things should I look for in equipment?
4. Will I get "hooked" or dependent on the machine?
(A friend of mine uses a CPAP and says he can't sleep at
all without it and just lies awake all night......)Help! Any ideas? It would be nice to stay awake during the daytime for at least
half of the day............. Jim Howen
