This depends a great deal on you...

Obviously, to you, cost is important.

Other things to consider, though, are size (esp. if you travel), noise (what's your, and if married, your spouse's tolerance for noise), CPAP or BiPAP (CPAP is continuous air pressure at the same level, BiPAP decreases the pressure when you exhale), etc.

As to becoming dependent on it:

To be honest, I fall asleep more quickly without the device, although, of course, the quality of that sleep is less. I don't think you need to worry about this.

Good luck. I've felt much better since I started using my BiPAP.
