I am a registered sleep tech. Shift work and sleep apnea are seperate sleep issues. Working nights prevents the body from achieving a normal amount of sleep (people tend to only get 3-4 hrs of sleep/day). Sleep apnea affects not only sleep pattern but respiratory pattern, blood pressure, oxygen levels in blood and in the long term the heart. Both must be addressed but in my opinion sleep apnea is the more threatening issue. Please go to a sleep doctor, get a clinical assessment and if sleep apnea is suspected get laboratory testing. Both are important to treat but treatment forms differ. Good luck!
