Sleep Apena???????? Maybe??

Posted by Karen on March 03, 1998 at 23:41:51:

I was hoping someone might be able to give me some insite on sleeping disorders. I have been looking for information on the net and I found this forum.
Since I was about 13 I have had quite the sleeping problems. I can sleep anywhere at anytime, there are many days where I will sleep 13 hours durning the night and still take 4 or 5 hours nap durning the day. I also snore terriblely loud. Also I can't seem to stay awake in classes, or even when doing things I enjoy for example I love to dance, but when I went to watch a performance I still feel sleep. 3 or 4 times in the past 9 years Doctors have run blood test to see if anything is causing me to be so tired and all of the tests say the same thing that my blood is normal except for my iron which is low but not low enough to say I am anemic and definally not low enough to make me a tired as I always am. About a year ago I was dignosed with depression and told that was the reason I was so tired and I was given medicine which has helped the depression but not has not changed that fact that I am very very tired. I never thought that I might have a sleeping disorder until I started dating my boyfriend evey so often I sleep over at his house and one day he was telling that I keep scareing him durning the night because I would just stop breathing for quite a while he said I did it quite a few times. this got me to wondering if I might have a disorder. also I know that my Aunt has sleep apena and for as long as I remember my grandpa would always fall asleep everywhere just like I do.
I was wondering what some of the symptoms for sleep disorders are and what would be the best way for me to go about getting help, thank you for your time.

Karen
