Posted by John on March 05, 1998 at 18:36:58:I am a 2 wk user of CPAP. The most noticeable difference I feel is that I no longer go to sleep or want to go the sleep while driving. Seem to have only slight amt of addt'l energy during day though. Still wake up during night and moving around a lot but seems to perhaps be slightly better. Are more noticeable improvements still to come?
I asked CPAP supplier about nasal pillows. Thought that it might be better to use since moving around causes mask to move around. He said he would let my try but it is at my expense. Also he said most all prefer marsk. Right now I thought I was renting. Any clues? Also, if someone needs to try out different machines, masks, etc., how do you know what all of the options are?
The former epidemiologist in me also wonders if the CPAP machine hoses are a potential site to harbor harmful microbes?
Last question--I have the sinus problem I guess and sore throat. Notes from others seem to recommend humidifier on machine. Any other thoughts? I tend to have allergies anyway but never take anything.
Weird questions I know but thanks for any advice. Making time to read these questions and responses has been very informative and supporting as well.
Are more improvements still to come?
