Dear Emily,

Eight hours of sleep per night should be plenty if you are getting normal sleep patterns. However, your daytime sleepiness indicates you may not be getting enough stage 3 and 4 sleep. I went for several months getting what I thought was a good night's sleep; never woke during the night and no wild dreams or unusual restlessness and still felt exhausted. It wasn't until I had a sleep study done and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, that I realised that you can sleep all night without getting the restoring rest we need. You could also check out the other areas of this sleepnet web site as it can anwer alot of questions as well. However, I would recommend you see a Sleep Disorder Specialist if this continues much longer. You could try finding another place to sleep for a few nights that IS quiet just to see if that makes any difference.
I hope this helps!
Louise
