I was a shift worker for many years prior to August, '81 when a Mr. Ronald Reagan decided my services were no longer desired. During this time I was constantly tired and felt wahed out. Midnight shifts were a nightmare (no pun intended) and recovery from a quick turnaround (8 hours or less between shifts) was impossible. At that time, sleep apnea was not recognized and I thought my problems were just par for the territory. Since then I have been diagnosed with apnea and have been on CPAP for about 10 years now. The difference in alertness and vigor is almost beyond comprehension. I often wonder how much better I would have fared had I been diagnosed and treated for apnea prior to August'81. My advice is to give CPAP a good trial period befor making any drastic job changes. You might discover a big change in your ability to recover and toleration of shift workwork. Good luck. Dick
