I second Brian's advice. I work for a sleep lab here in Denver and couselling you to go to sleep doc is the absolute right advice. Have your husband go with you if you feel comfortable with that. It wil be important to track your sleep patterns for about 2-3weeks prior to your visit. By tracking your sleep (time went to bed, time up in the morning, any disruptions of sleep) over a period of time the doctor will be able to have some idea as to your sleep patterns. The doctor will probably also ask you or your husband about any history of illness, recent or prolonged stresses, behavoirs exbited during sleep (ie. snoring, leg kicking), past overall sleep history. In addition it is important to tell him what meds you are taking (dosages etc.). After the clinical visit which typically lasts one hour the doctor will decide whether or not clinical testing (ie an overnight stay) in the sleep lab in neccessary. Good luck and all the best.
