were you offered the option of continuing your health coverage for 18 months under the group plan, paying a relatively reasonable amount of money ($150-200/month -- ok, that's not so reasonable) under the COBRA plan? this is a federal law. I'd look into this as well as questioning whether you were wrongfully fired for having a disability. Good luck!
