Getting used to CPAP

Posted by Alejo on March 18, 1998 at 05:35:41:

I've been on CPAP for some nights now. The general feeling is to be a lot more alert during the day. I am concerned about a couple of things; I spend an average of 1 hour trying to get the mask to fit comfortably (I use a Sullivan Mirage system) I keep playing with the velcro, tightening and loosening until (I think) I get the ideal setting. How tight should the mask be worn?
Also what is the best position I should (at least try to) keep using the CPAP, I usually go to sleep on my right side, but my position in relation to the pillow makes me fear I'll knock the mask away or open my mouth and start sputtering like a Harley.
Help!
