straight into REM state

Posted by Sara on March 21, 1998 at 13:25:38:

Every time I fall asleep, I go directly into a dream state. I have long, complicated dreams that I remember well upon waking. I get around ten hours of sleep weeknights, but I often sleep into the afternoons on the weekends. I don't snore, and alarms and outside noise wake me easily, but I ignore them as long as I can. It is easy for me to be woken by my fiance in the morning, have a long conversation (to wake me up), and promptly fall asleep the minute he walks out the door (often returning to the dream I was having when he woke me). I lay in bed, feeling drugged, arguing with myself to just get up, and deciding I can skip breakfast, a shower, anything to stay in bed a few more minutes. I also have low blood pressure, and would self-diagnose myself with mild depression, although I could not say if this were a cause or an effect. Any advice would help - it's getting to be ridiculous!
