Hi Debbie, when I first tried the cpap machine the tech had me put the mask to myface with the machine turned on. This was done so that I could adjust to the flow of air coming out of the mask as I put it over the nose. Once the mask was in place and there were no leaks the the straps were adjusted to keep the mask in place. This can be done by you by holding the mask with one hand and adjusting the mask with the other. I tried to put the mask on first and then turning the machine on but that makes the rush of air too much and a poorer seal results. Good luck on the next test.
