OSA and surgery for retrognathia

Posted by Mickey on March 22, 1998 at 20:22:21:

I have recently been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, caused in large part by a small and recessed jaw (class II retrognathia). I have just starting using CPAP and am having trouble adjusting, partly because of chronic sinus problems. I am considering having surgery to correct my jaw problem, in hopes that it will cure the sleep apnea as well, and prevent future TM joint deterioration. Has anyone out there in cyberspace had this problem and had the surgery done? I'd appreciate any help on this whatsoever. Thanks.
