Sources to check: the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA) web-site, National Institute of Health (NIH), Federal Government for statistics on sleep related accidents (in cars, at work etc.), Stanley Coren's book Sleep Thieves (easy to read with plenty of info), Principles & Practice of Sleep Medicine (detailed but has just about everything) by Meir Kryger, Thomas Roth & William Dement. William Dement is one of "gods" of sleep medicine. Check out Sleep Apnea (it is the most common sleep disorder by far). Hope I helped.

Check web sites for above government information.
