I suggest a web search on "shiftwork" and "circadian"
There are several consulting firms in the US that specialize in schedule design and shiftworker education (and management education!) as relates to the human circadian cicle and industrial shcedules.
Also- look up anything you can find on "human factors" research done at the US governments main research lab for circadian issues - the Ames Research Center in Palo Alto, CA
