There could be arousals due to these events. The arousals may not be displayed in the two standard electrode placements of C4, O2, there's a lot a brain not precisely covered by these two electrode placements.
I think this was Neil Douglas' (from Scotland) argument.
Scoring these evennts may help define cases of idiopathic hypersomnolence.
How do you propose to score these events? Do you have a digital collection system or are you running a chart recorder? I think it will increase analysis time and will this be economical?
Depending on the study we usually take ~ two hours to completely analyse a study.
It may be better to score these events only for those presenting with diurnal somnolence that don't have OSA, narcolepsy or poor sleep hygiene.
