If your physicians actually read all the studies in 7 days then you should be very thankful.

One way our facility insures the studies are timely read is that if a dictated report on the charged study is not in file in medical records by a certain amount of time, then the admitting physician's priviledges are placed on a "preparing to suspend list". If the studies or study is still not read then those priviledges are automatically suspended and cannot be reinstated without a hearing before a comittee to explain why the physician admitted the pt. for a sleep study and then did not interpret.

This is a house-wide administrative policy that is not left up to one person who is wishy-washy about letting some doctors slide by.

When the doctors get their notices of delinquent interpretations from medical records they come running down to interpret-usually the same day.
