HI RPSGT,

Let me first give you my personal opinion on something, for the lack of a better name, I'm going to call the "new technology." Biomedical departments are getting hit with this from all sides. To get on top of the New Technology a Biomed has to be half Biomed and half Information Service Specialist. It's going to take a lot of work for Biomed to get a handle on this and I sympathize with you sleep study people who have little or no training on computers. If you haven't yet moved to the new computer based sleep study systems you're in for a real shock.

Our sleep study people are converted respiratory people. I know where you're coming from! Our Techs are real smart people, but there is no substitute for the formal training. It gives a Tech the foundation needed to build a solid understanding of the discipline.

We have had the Alice 4 for one year now and it's never been trouble free. The trouble, however, has not always been equipment. It's learning how to use it, and how to trouble shoot it when you have problems, that will put you in the nut house.
