Vicks vapor rub in the nose, if inhaled can cause lipid pneumonia - bad, bad, bad. I had similar sx when I used nCPAP during the end of my pregnancy and didn't want to use any drugs. Got better after 2 months, perhaps was seasonal. How about suggesting steroid nasal spray like rhinocort, nasocort, etc.
