I second the Denver opinion. The in-lab study is an overnight stay as an outpatient. Twenty to thrity sensors are applied to your body to monitor your sleep, breathing, movement patterns (and oxygen levels again) and possible more. Don't be scared off by the sensors, most people sleep about as good as they usually do in a motel.

By the way, if you happen to normally sleep daytime hours, ask if the test can be done during the day. It is best done on your normal schedule, not your doctors.
