my friend cant sleep

my friend is taking elavil 26mg and neurontin. she cant stand the drugged feeling the next day from the elavil and wanted me to find out if anyone has a similar problem and what other medication she can take that wont leave her feeling drugged.she has been to clinics and her doctor doesnt know what else to try.
