Sudden body jolt

Posted by Concern Dave on April 08, 1998 at 14:48:50:

My friend, she is in her 30's, has a strange sleep disorder that just as she is about to fall asleep, she takes a sudden gulp of air with her lung and with such force that jolts her whole body. It seems the jolting force decreases the next time she does it. She will do this about four to five times in a 30 minutes period before she eventually fell asleep. Her father has epilepsy, is it heriditary ? Is there anything she can do to help her condition ?
