According to research exercise done within 3 hours of bedtime may cause autonomic arousal within the body which may serve to delay sleep onset. However other pre-sleep behavoirs may also cause trouble with sleep. Sleep docs emphasis the importance of maintaining good sleep hygiene which you may want to investigate.
