I am an insomniac also. I go thru cycles where it starts and then gets harder and harder to fall asleep until I do reach a period where I don't sleep at all. That seems to end it for awhile, till the next time. The all-nighters are a more recent occurance. Lately, because of some suspicions I've had about other things, I tried drinking coffee at night before I go to bed, especially when my mind is racing (usually a sign that I'm about to have an insomnia-filled night) and it really helps me. I find that any hot drinks, tea, coffee or hot chocolate, help me to relax and sleep better.

I've had insomnia for most of my life (I'm 45) and have always just accepted it. But the coffee seems to work for me.
