canine sleep disorders

Posted by Keith Carlson on April 19, 1998 at 15:06:45:

I have a dog who has been diagnosed with REM Behavior Disorder. Does anyone have info on dogs and this disorder. We have tried a number of medications but nothing works. She has very violent seizures every time she sleeps, with dystonic neck, loud barking and yelping. She can be woken out of these states fairly easily. It happens any time she sleeps. Please help with any suggestions or ideas for further research or treatment. I was told that this disorder is rare in humans and even more rare in animals, thus research is scant. Any useful information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
