Thank you so much for your letter re. larngospasm. I developed these spasms a week and a half into a period when I had a cold mostly characterized by lots of coughing. I would wake up gasping and with my throat closed. My physician had no idea what was going on and didn't seem to care much. Said "Don't worry. You can't die from it." I disagree. I was so scared the first few times I could have had a heart attack. He has tried antibiotics, hydrocodone, Prednisone, thinking that the spasm was caused by irritated larynx. But I think its the other way around, the snoring and spasms are irritating the larnyx, making it dry and difficult to recover from cough related to cold. I have had, I think, sleep apnea for some time; go to bed very early due to tiredness, drinking alcohol prior to sleep, snoring, tongue muscles tingling or sore in morning, obesity, wide small jaw, stocky build, big tongue. I have had this white phelgm coming out of my lungs which didn't make sense because I don't have a lung infection and have already done a course of antibiotics. I think I am actually sucking salival mucus in and then having to cough it back up later when I awake. I cannot tell you what a relief it is to find your article. Nwo my question: what the hell do I do. My doctor doesn't have the faintest notion about what's going on. He has tried me on anitbiotics, antihistamines and Prednisone with absolutely no effect. Should I show him this information or go to a different practitioner. Any information would by hugely appreciated. Ranald Bruce.
