confidentiality of sleep study results

I have had progressively greater trouble sleeping for about six years now. I am now considering having a sleep study done. A friend of mine told me that if you are diagnosed with sleep apnea or narcolepsy, the results are sent to the Department of Motor Vehicles and you can lose your license. Can anyone confirm this?
