don't count on weight loss as any significant cure. the studies are mixed. of course any AMA trained doctor will advise weight loss, but any weight loss method that restricts calories or dramatically jacks up exercise routines will create temporary weight loss of fat and muscle (and your heart is a muscle, which means you lose some), and the natural, inevitable, not-your-fault weight gain, that will result in weighing more than you did when you started, and placing a much greater strain on many systems in the body. Fat necks do not cause many forms of apnea, as there are many places in the airway that can collapse, and fat is not the sole cause for this. Try the CPAP, keep asking questions here as you make minor calibrations in masks, tubes, humidity or not, etc. This is a new field and the experts are still learning from our experiences. meanwhile if you haven't seen a copy of the magazine "Radiance," email me and I will help you find it, because there is so much more to life than being on a diet.
