why does this happen?

Posted by Chris on April 29, 1998 at 21:05:26:

I have a couple of weird sleep eperiences that I'd like to know the reasons for. First, this has happened a couple of times where I'd be on my bed listening to loud music and falling asleep. But the thing is I am dreaming but hearing the music at the same time. Once, while listening and falling asleep to loud music I had a dream I was at a party and I was an MC playing all the songs that were playing in my room while I was asleep. Another time, and this happened a couple of times usually when I take a nap with the light on. I'll be laying in my bed and suddenly( I think your not supposed to actually notice this) I can feel the transision between sleep and reality. Know I am in total control of my dream and this has happened before. I remember I was telling myself in the dream that I could fall straight on my face and nothing would happen so I tried it and was right. Another time I was floating in the air and rising so I had to grab something or would float away. The problem was that I was horrified during these experiences and since I knew I was dreaming I would try to wake up and sometimes I couldn't and would start screaming and awake hearing me scream, it's so weird. What is the reason for this and why or when does it happen and how can I prevent it? because it scares the hell out of me. It's only happened twice. Thanks
