Nasal pillows are soft, silicone inserts that go in an A.D.A.M. circuit, made by Nellcor-Puritan-Bennett. The silicone inserts are small enough to fit into your nostrils, while the harder plastic shell attaches to the tubing from the machine. A velcro strap holds the shell and pillows up to your nose, and the pillows are the only part of the breathing circuit that touches you. They tend to be more easily tolerated by some patients than the "over-the-nose" type of masks, but every patient is different.

Ask your home care dealer or sleep lab to let you try several different types of masks. If they don't want to do that, find someone who will.
