Roommate is a light sleeper

I have a problem with my college roommate. He is a very light sleeper. Whenever I come in late, open the door very quietly and quietly tip-toe in, he completely wakes up and starts complaining. However, all my past roommates were normal sleepers and never woke-up/complained. Does anyone have any information about this "light sleep" disorder.
