you might be a candidate for a Bi-Pap machine. I found that my pressure setting of 14 was too strong for me to exhale against, especially since I have always been a mouth breather and I was retraining myself to breath thru my nose. The Bi-Pap settings are at 14 inhale and 10 exhale and I love it. It feels like there isn't a machine on at all, and the machine I have will adjust to the timing of my breathing, incase I want to take a longer breath. If your equipment provider says it will be more expensive, have your doctor prescribe it. The only down side is that the machine is bigger, and it makes traveling a bit more challenging, but it is certainly worth it.
