What do you mean "as if one could have a family, job, and a life around that routine"????!!!!

What kind of life do you have without it? Sleep is a VITAL bodily need. If someone takes an hour of their day to nap instead of surf the internet or watch TV or commute through traffic - who are you to judge!? The attitude that there is something wrong with getting adequate sleep is why we have tragedies every day from prople falling asleep at the wheel and on the job. Ever hear of Three Mile Island? The Exxon Valdez? Space station MIR and the unpiloted supply ship? Sleep deprivation accidents all.

By the way: Ritalin , for those who need it, is safe, even in increasing doses. Talk to the folks at the Hennepin County Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center in Minneapolis MN about Ritalin and how much it takes to keep some people going.
