Polysomnography results

Just got results of sleep study. What is apnea/hypopnea index? Had 45 obstructive apneas,10central apneas, 41 obstructive hypopneas(what is this?0 and 1 central hypopnea. Also, what do the stages of sleep mean? What is sleep latency? I felt that this was one of my better nights of sleep. Just don't understand this terminology.
