I awake and eat all night long! Help!

Posted by Edana Millard on May 06, 1998 at 19:30:59:

For years I have had this terrible habit of waking in the
night and eating. I eat 3 or 4 times a night, consisting
of toast, peanutbutter and jelly, cookies, chocolate..ect..
I have no willpower to stop. I have tried numerous drugs
that my doctor has suggested, but nothing works.
Its like I have to have that full feeling. My family hides
stuff knowing it would be gone by morning if they didn't.
That frustrates me alot, and I end up searching for it.
Its an overpowering craving that comsumes me.
I am not overweight by much because I eat low fat and
excercise during the day. I want so much to stop this, and
no one sees it as a problem cause I am not obese. It is a problem. I don't sleep very long and roll and toss all night. my best sleep is right before the alarm clock goes.
I have been known to see things in the night also. I have
awakened scared to death and ran out of the room after
seeing something that is not really there. So I am not sure
if I have an eating disorder or sleep disorder. or Both.
Please let me know if there are others that have this problem. I am not asleep at the time.. I am aware of every-
thing I do, but I am like another personality...No control.
