My insurance was slow to give in on the heated humidifier, but I had one thing working for me. I am at a setting of 20cm which puts me at the end of the scale on most C-PAP machines. The logic my C-PAP supplier and doctor went with was, if I didn't need the heated unit at my pressure setting, why were they made at all? Also, it helps to complain of DAILY nose bleeding.

I woke up in the sleep lab with pain, the feeling of FIRE in my nose from the humidiferless C-PAP that they were using on me! I knew from that nigth on, I was going to have to demand a top rated humidifer.

I have the Fisher&Paykel unit (GET IT!!!) It comes in two parts. The starter kit which is just a base, non-heated tank and hose. It wasn't enough!!!! At that point I had to push hard and fast to get the heater base. This unit is TOPS!!! I can't tell you enough how GREAT it work!!!

I don't know about the Oasis, but would believe that it should work better then the Fisher&Paykel (without the heater) due to its design. But it can't come close to the comfort of a heated unit. That rushing air can get COLD! AND, evaporation is a cooling process!!! That means even COLDER!!!

If you have a setting near 17 or better and/or complain of nose bleeds, I bet you can/will win your case.

God Bless - Jorgy!
