Let me just say that after reviewing the posts in this forum that it appears to be a bunch of very caring and supportive people. Let me explain my problem. I snore, "heroically" as I saw it put once. The love of my life is being impacted severely my my snoring, and she has asked me to sleep in the guest room or fled there herself during the night, even though she wears "Super 31" (dB) earplugs. I *never* get a good night's sleep. I am always tired, am often very unproductive at work, and my tiredness makes me just want to lay down and sleep instead of doing fun things. I nap a lot, which I know is not recommended but sometimes I just can't stay awake. I know I have a sleep disorder, I went to my HMO and they seemed to be concerned only with Apnea, which I don't appear to have. I was told my case was not "impressive" and to lose weight and don't drink alcohol. Thank you very much. I'm not severely overweight and I drink only socially. I did get them to agree to send me to a sleep study for CPAP, but I don't know if I can deal with that, esp. after reading some of the posts in here.. sounds rather barbaric. I saw an ad in the paper earlier this year for Somnoplasty, it sounds like a dream come true, but does it work and are there side affects? Right now I am waiting for a sleep study for CPAP in July, don't know if I can wait that long and I'm tempted to just get the Somnoplasty done even though I'll have to pay $cash.
Thanks all,
Bob
