Chris,

You're not crazy. Although I know how you feel because I have had similar thoughts and feelings. I suffer from Sleep Terrors and have often had an irrational fear of going to sleep. Going to bed every night is a challenge, because I'm not sure if I'm going to actually sleep or if I'm going to have a series of Sleep Terrors during the night. I recently went to a psychiatrist who prescribed a drug for me called Lorazepan. The drug acts to calm your nervous system so that you can feel relaxed when you go to bed. It has helped me immensely. I still don't have a complete night sleep, but I am getting some rest and do not awaken panicked. You may want to look into it. My doctor also asked me to have my Thyroid tested.

Good luck. You'll get through it. It's hard when you think you're the only one going through this type of sleep activity. You're not alone.
