Smart Cpap and Insurance

Is there any literature out there to convince out insurance company that "Smart" Cpap is needed rather than just a plain Cpap. My father in law is way above 10 and the sleep clinic recomended a "smart" cpap but I'm starting to encounter some problems with the insurance company. Does anybody have any advice? - Bruce
