sounds like you might not have serious apnea now, but you sound like a candidate. Apnea gets worse as you age (and, perhaps, put on a few more pounds!) I had been a snorer all my life, but the apnea didn't start bothering me until I was around 47 yrs. old. With me, it advanced so gradually that I didn't notice it until I began falling asleep at the wheel while driving and dozing off in business meetings.
If you just have a snoring problem, I understand there are some good laser surgery techniques for that which are relatively painless and don't require a lot of time to recover.
You need to see a good ENT doc fot that. Your HMO probably doesn't give a damn that you snore.
