Posted by Lynn Ellen on May 17, 1998 at 23:20:27:I have a Respironics Bi-Pap Duet, which I recieved new in July of 1997. I noticed in December that it began to be a bit sensitive to air leaks and it shuts off if it detects a leak for more than several seconds. I've played with the mask being tighter and looser, and I seemed to have found a solution of sorts, tho I continue to have eye leaks which lead to dry eyes and just once one eye was swollen in the morning.
NOW, the sensitivity to leaks has skyrocketed and while I haven't timed it, it seems like every two or three minutes it is lighting up the leak detect light and then shutting off. Believe me, waking up to no air is certainly an interruption in my sleep. The last two nights I finally gave up and slept without it and tonite I'm not even going to set it up.
Has anyone else ever had this problem with one of these newer machines? Short of getting a new machine (don't get me started on my tales of woe with the insurance company and Apria Healthcare(less)), has anyone found a way to tweak this function?
